Virginia Tech’s College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences recently featured findings from Dr. Jody Russon’s transdisciplinary research on addressing suicide among veterinary students.  With the help of MFT program area students Allie King, Stephanie Cooke, Sami Simpson, Bradford Stucki, and Jamie Dellinger, Dr. Russon conducted an early-stage study to understand the needs, barriers, and facilitators associated with implementing universal, comprehensive behavioral health screening and triage in colleges of veterinary medicine.  Russon notes that this research would not have been possible without the support of her team of investigators at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, the feedback from her transdisciplinary advisory board, and the ongoing dedication and consciousness of her doctoral research assistants.
